Frequently Asked Question

How does barcode scanning at the pack station prevent packing errors?

Barcode scanning at the pack station prevents packing errors by validating every item at the moment it is picked up — before it goes into the box. Instead of operators checking a pick list manually, the system checks automatically on every scan.

With PackVision's order validation feature, the process works like this:

  1. Your order is uploaded to PackVision (via API or CSV) with the expected items and quantities per line.
  2. The operator links their scanner session to the order number.
  3. Each barcode scan is validated against the order lines in real time.
  4. The operator sees an immediate colour-coded indicator: correct item, wrong item, over-quantity, or item not on the order.
  5. Wrong items are caught before they go in the box — not after dispatch.

What errors does it catch?

Wrong item — a different product scanned that wasn't on the order
Over-pick — more units of an item than the order requires
Unexpected item — an item not on the order at all
Unresolved barcode — a barcode not found in your item master

At the end of each session, PackVision computes a pack status — Complete, Incomplete or Overpacked — which is visible in the portal for every order. This gives supervisors and operations teams a clear record of packing accuracy over time.
